How Do We Ensure Quality Assurance?
Speciality Arabica's export programme covers Q-grading, GrainPro packing, certifications, and shipment of Ethiopian green coffee from Djibouti to USA, EU, UK, Australia, UAE, and Saudi Arabia. Each container ships under FOB or CIF Incoterms with phytosanitary, ICO, and origin documentation plus full lot traceability.
Every batch of our speciality arabica undergoes rigorous cupping by certified Q-Graders. We ensure all exports meet the Specialty Coffee Association (SCA) standards, scoring 80+ points.

Our Pre-Shipment QC Protocol
Quality claims are settled before the container sails, not after it arrives. Every contract follows the same sample-approval sequence, so what you cup is what you receive:
- 1.Offer sample — 200–350g from the current crop with lot number, region, altitude band, processing method, and Q-grade. You cup and approve before contracting.
- 2.Pre-shipment sample (PSS) — drawn from the milled, export-ready parcel. Shipment only proceeds against your written PSS approval.
- 3.Moisture & screen check at stuffing — moisture recorded at 9–12% when the container is loaded, with GrainPro-lined jute and lined container walls. See how the Djibouti corridor works.
- 4.Document drafts before sailing — invoice, certificate of origin, phytosanitary, ICO certificate, weight note, and packing list shared for your approval, so nothing holds your container at destination.
- 5.Arrival follow-up — quality claim window and process written into every contract; retained counter-samples in Addis Ababa settle any dispute objectively.
Contract-to-Arrival Timeline
A realistic planning window from signed contract to coffee at your roastery door:
| Stage | Typical Time |
|---|---|
| Milling, sorting & export-grade certification | 1–2 weeks |
| PSS approval & container stuffing | 1 week |
| Trucking Addis Ababa → Djibouti + port dwell | 1–1.5 weeks |
| Sea freight (Gulf 5–14 days · Europe 18–25 · Asia 18–28 · USA/Australia 25–35) | 1–5 weeks |
| Destination clearance (see our market guides) | 2–7 days |
Planning a seasonal menu launch? Work backwards from these numbers — fresh-crop Yirgacheffe contracted in the new year is typically on European roaster shelves from late spring.
